Sabre Fencing Camp 2012

Below you will find all that you want to know about the SFC2012 and are afraid to ask!

If we left anything out don't hesitate to contact us at info@leonpaulpolska.com. We'll be glad to answer all your questions

In the meantime we'll be updating the info below as soon as we have it so be sure to check it once in a while!

So, what exactly is the SFC2012?

The Sabre Fencing Camp 2012 is the coolest sabre fencing camp you can imagine! We know that one just can't find a fencing camp tailored for the enthusiasts of historical sabre fencing who would like to treat it as a pleasurable escape from their day-to-day routine. That's where the SFC2012 comes in!

Who is the camp for?

The camp is designed to accomodate to the needs of recreational fencers and teach them a cohesive system of historical sabre fencing. We'll start from scratch so you need not to worry if you're completely new to sabre fencing!

When should I take my days off work?

The SFC2012 will take place in the first week of march 2012, so we'll be there from the morning of 03.03.12 till the midday of 10.03.12.

How on earth can it be so much fun?

It's simple! We love fencing and honestly can't imagine living without it, but we also know all too well what it's like to have a demanding job, a family and a tight schedule. We're addicted to good food, good company and good night's sleep! So why shouldn't we mix the pleasure of vacation with the thrill of fencing?

  • 7am workout? Not a chance!
  • Late breakfast? Sure!
  • 10pm curfew? Nah!
  • A decent after-dinner break to have a nap? Oh yes!
  • No alcohol during the evening parties? Hell no!
Did we mention evening parties?

I can't go without my Significant Other so I guess I can't come at all..

Don't give in just yet! We have a special offer for those, who'd like to come but just wouldn't fence - a SPA package deal! In the same price, instead of the sabre classes, there will be a nice hour-long SPA treatment every day for 6 days and apart from free sauna, free jacuzzi, free relaxation room and an additional 10% discount for all that the SPA offers. With all that one can do in the Masurian forrests thanks to the Hotel's bike and nordic walking rentals, we're certain that your SO will find our camp very interesting - after all, relationship is about sharing a passion, isn't it?

Our staff includes an Activity Leader for all the bikers and hikers who would come along the fencers so fret not for you will have no chance to get bored!

How much does it cost?

The camp costs 2000 polish złoty's, which makes it roughly 470 euro; the currency exchange rate can be found on www.nbp.pl. The minimum deposit is 50% of the price to be paid by the 31st of January; the rest can be paid in cash upon arrival. Please contact us for the account info.

If you can't come for a full week but would like to take part in the camp, we have two other options; you can come for 5 days for 1480zł and for 3 days for 920zł.

How do I transfer the money?

We accept payments in both polish złoty's and in euro

EURO: PL86234000091541403000002174  Jacek Bujko, Al. Bohaterow Warszawy 11b/15, 70-370 Szczecin

PLN: PL91234000091740109000014449 Jacek Bujko, Al. Bohaterow Warszawy 11b/15, 70-370 Szczecin

What do I get for my money?

The price includes 3 meals a day, 3 sabre trainings a day and the hotel room. We also grant a 10% discount and free sauna with a relaxation room for all the participating fencers!

We'll be staying in very nicely furnished double rooms with own bathroom, free Wi-Fi, a TV set and other utilities. Every room is individually decorated and has its own unique style – we have taken care of everything including warm soft furnishings within a minimalistic modern design and make maximum use of all natural daylight.

What else can I pamper myself with?

There's a marvellous restaurant in the Hotel (the hot chocolate and coffee are sooooo delicious!), a SPA (with a 10% discount!) and you can also upgrade your room standard (you can choose between normal, high and Lux!)

How do I get to the Hotel?

We have arranged a bus fare from Okęcie Airport directly to the Hotel and back; the ticket will cost around 300zł and might get lower if there will be more passengers. We will set the departure time to best suit your needs so be sure to let us know when is your most convenient flight to Poland

If you want to come on your own you can find the location on the Hotel's website HERE.

The camp price does not cover the bus fare.

Who is the coach?

The coach at the camp will be Jacek Bujko, of the Leon Paul Poland. Jacek is a polish fencing coach who graduated at Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego im. J. Kukuczki in Katowice under prof. Z. Czajkowski. A physician by trade, Jacek is experienced in teaching the historical sabre fencing and has led several workshops on the subject; he teaches at Szczecińska Grupa Fechtunku "Salut" in Szczecin, Poland.

If you want to contact Jacek directly use jacek.bujko@gmail.com

What shall we be fencing with?

We shall conduct our classes with safe training sabres so that one would only require an ordinary sport suit, a fencing mask and a glove to fence. A set of wooden training sabres, called "palcat", along with a set of protective gear will also be available as well as some replica and antique sabres.

What should I bring with me?

A positive attitude; a fencing mask, a glove, an ordinary sport suit. The rest is up to you!

If you haven't got a mask, let us know, we can arrange that!

How much shall we fence?

We'd love to fence since the early morning till we drop dead in the evening but we decided to keep it to 6 hours of training a day. We do agree that when there's will, there's a way so if you want to fence more we could keep the salle open a bit longer to let you fence (just don't miss the party in the evening!)

Will there be horses?

A sabre fencer is never fully complete without trying some mounted sabre fencing; there is a stable not far from the Hotel, but the horses are not trained for having an armed rider. If you know how to ride on horseback and would like to spend some time there we will arrange it for you.

During the camp we will cover the basics of horseback sabre fencing in our salle (without the horses, that is; we're afraid that they tend not to fit through our salle's door) so that if you have an access to a trained horse in the future you will know what to do with your sabre while on it!.

Can I see some pictures of the Hotel and your sabre workshops?

Sure thing! Some are in the gallery below and more can be found in the Gallery section of our website.
